Some of our favorite woven matelasse bedspreads are made here in Lewiston, Maine by Maine Heritage Weavers.  We have been carrying these luxurious bedspreads for over 50 years . . . first woven by Bates Fabrics, then Bates of Maine, and now Maine Heritage Weavers.

Queen Elizabeth wovens, including bedspreads and throws by Maine Heritage Weavers are woven in Lewiston, Maine at one of the Bates Mill buildings by former Bates Fabrics employees.  Queen Elizabeth, also remembered as Elizabethan Court, is one of the most popular matelasse designs offered by Maine Heritage Weavers. 

Our Queen Elizabeth design is an authentic vintage reproduction of an original handwoven masterpiece dating back to the first Elizabethan Era before becoming popular in Colonial America. Elegant center medallion and flowers woven in an intricate "puffed" pattern give grace and clarity to this classic museum-designed bedspread.

Quality cotton matelasse blankets, throws, bedspreads, and coverlets are loomed to be heirloomed on Jacquard looms similar to those used by the legendary Bates Fabrics by former Bates employees at Maine Heritage Weavers. 

Bedspreads are available in a variety of colors and vintage designs, and are an excellent addition to any decor.  Bedspreads are machine washable and will not shrink more than 3 percent nor fade due to the highest quality of materials used in the weaving process.

High grade cotton helps to produce the soft elegant bedspreads, coverlets, throws and blankets woven. To accommodate thicker mattresses, custom sizes are available. Our Jacquard bedspreads, throws and coverlets do not fade and will not shrink more than 3 percent.

These luxurious woven coverlets and bedspreads are available in white, antique, linen, sage, french blue and wedgewood blue. Burgandy is the next color to be added for a short time. Candlewick designs are available in white or antique.

One exception, however, is bedding woven by a Maine, USA, based company, Maine Heritage Weavers. This small textile company was started by several Maine craftsmen and women, former employees of Bates Fabrics, the world renown manufacturer of Bates style throws, shams, coverlets and bedspreads in both terry-loop (candlewick) and trapunto (matelasse) construction.

Maine Heritage Weavers operates out of the same buildings that housed the Bates operation located along the Androscoggin River in Lewiston, Maine many years ago.
